Underlayment Replacement in Bryants Store, KY

Underlayment Replacement in Bryants Store, KY

Underlayment is the layer between your shingles and the roof deck. Older homes usually have 15 or 30 pound asphalt felt. Newer work often uses synthetic underlayment, which is lighter and tears less. Either way, it is the backup that keeps water off the wood when a shingle fails.

Felt does not last forever. It dries out, wrinkles, and tears along nail lines. When a shingle blows off and the felt underneath has been exposed for weeks, it is often shot.

Bryants Store, KY Shingle Roof Repair connects homeowners in Bryants Store, KY with shingle roofing contractors for underlayment replacement on a section or a full slope. The crew will:

• Strip the shingles from the affected area
• Pull the old underlayment and inspect the plywood or OSB for rot and delamination
• Replace any bad sheathing with matching thickness
• Install new underlayment lapped correctly, with ice and water shield where needed
• Re-shingle with matched asphalt shingles

This is the repair that keeps a small shingle problem from turning into soft spots you can feel when you walk the roof.
